Today was our Leaders Retreat - Called Chosen, Sent! Our freshman and sophomore leaders who serve in campus ministry at junior high and elementary schools gathered for a day of prayer, reflection, talks, team building, and fun. As missionary disciples, they are preparing their hearts to serve throughout the school year and to be examples of faith to their younger classmates, helping lead them closer to God.
Please keep these young leaders in your prayers as they continue to share their faith, serve others, and lead others closer to Christ
Day 2 of Suicide Prevention Week was a day full of teal and purple, the national colors of suicide awareness! With the help of Hope Squad, students created a "Compassion Chain" where students wrote one protective factor on each link. It's a powerful image to see the chain come together in a visual of self care strategies, gratitude moments, and safe people in our students' lives!

O'Gorman High School has been named a 2026 South Dakota Blue Ribbon School — our FIFTH time earning the incredible blue ribbon honor! This recognition reflects the dedication of our teachers, staff, students, and families who make O'Gorman a place of excellence every single day.
We started our surprise with a celebration featuring Dr. Joseph Graves, SD Secretary of Education, and Christine Erickson, Mayor of the City of Sioux Falls. The students enjoyed some time outside taking an all school photo on McEneaney field and cupcakes at lunch!

We were pleased to welcome Fr. Thornton to our English III classrooms today for a thoughtful discussion on what it means to be human. His visit connected directly to themes from the class's first literary unit: Humanity. Thank you, Fr. Thornton, for supporting our students.

The evening began with an opportunity to hear from our new principal, assistant principal, chaplain, and director of counseling as they shared more about the year ahead and the ways we work together to support our students.
Parents then stepped into their students’ shoes—following their child’s schedule, visiting each class period, and meeting the teachers who will be part of their journey this year. 📚
We know our students are at their best when families and school work together. We are grateful to all the parents who joined us and to our faculty and staff for making the evening such a great start to that partnership.
Here’s to a great year together! 💙

The new school year is officially underway! Yesterday, we welcomed our newest students during Freshman Orientation, giving the Class of 2030 a chance to get acquainted with OGHS and prepare for their high school journey.
Today, we were excited to welcome all of our students back for the first day of school! We also came together as a school community to celebrate Mass with Fr. Thornton, our new OGHS chaplain. 🙏✝️

Every coach and activities director nominated students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities to be part of the OGHS Senior Leadership Team.
This week, these seniors came together for Senior Leadership Day, preparing to lead their classmates and the entire student body throughout the school year. The day included team-building games, leadership talks, mentorship and goal-setting discussions, an escape room challenge, Mass with Fr. Thornton, and, of course, pizza!
We're excited to see this group lead with integrity, serve others, and leave a lasting impact on our school community. Here's to a great year of leadership, service, and school spirit!

JPII Camp is an opportunity for young men to grow in their faith, build lasting friendships, enjoy great adventures, and discover where God may be calling them.
