O’Gorman High School is going to Spain in 2027!
Soon, O’Gorman Spanish students will have the opportunity to put their language skills to the test on a once in a lifetime trip to Spain. During this trip, students will explore Madrid, Granada, Sevilla, and more!
By visiting these three cities, students will be immersed in Spanish culture and language. Spain is home to some of the world’s most impressive landmarks, delicious food, and engaging culture. Some of the highlights of the trip will include a visit to the Alhambra in Granada and to the Cathedral of Sevilla, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world.
Learning a language by living it
Studies show that students who participate in academic travel develop empathy, confidence, adaptability, and global perspective ahead of their peers. These skills provide a competitive edge in any field.

The students will be accompanied by Dr. Chad LeBrun and Dr. Sarah Sinnott, both of whom studied in Spain multiple times and can’t wait to share it with their students. Dr. Sinnott shared that it was while she was studying in Spain that she realized she was thinking in Spanish for the first time. She fell in love with the country and has been back many times over the years, taking students on two of her trips. Her favorite city in Spain is Sevilla because of the orange-lined streets and the stunning cathedral.

Dr. LeBrun studied in Spain for four summers and has traveled through many parts of the country. What he likes best about Spain are the friendly and welcoming people. In second place for Dr. LeBrun is the food. He loves the bread, cheese, and seafood. “One place that I really like in Madrid is the Parque de buen retiro. It is like Central Park in New York City,” Dr. LeBrun shares. “I am looking forward to the Catholic Highlights of Spain trip to learn more about Catholic culture. A goal that I have for my life is to walk the Camino de Santiago / The Way of St. James. It is a religious pilgrimage trekking across northern Spain.”
