FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What is a transcript?
A transcript is a copy of the permanent academic (educational) record. It becomes an official transcript when the seal of the school is affixed and the signature of an authorized person is appended.
How do I order a transcript?
Current students must request a transcript in writing by coming to the Counseling Office and filling out a transcript release form. Graduates must request a transcript in writing by either e-mailing the Registrar, or by faxing or mailing the transcript release form. If requesting via e-mail, be sure to include sufficient identification – full legal name, date of birth, other names used (i.e., maiden name), year of graduation, etc. Please include your current phone number, in case the Registrar has questions. No order will be processed if a student has a financial hold on their academic record.
How long does it take to process?
Transcripts ordered in person require 1 working day for processing. If you designate someone else to pick up your transcript, that person must have written, signed authorization from you. Transcripts ordered via e-mail, fax or mail will normally be processed within 3 working days after the request is received. Please allow sufficient time to meet your deadlines.
How much do they cost?
Transcripts for current students cost one dollar each. Transcripts for students who have graduated are free. NOTE: Any financial hold must be paid before a transcript will be released.
What courses will be included on my transcript?
Any course that was ever taken at O’Gorman High School will be included on your transcript. Courses from other schools that were transferred will also appear on your transcript. The following information is included: name, date of birth, and parent/guardian names.
To what address should I send the transcript?
Many schools or businesses require transcripts be sent directly to them to be considered official. However, if you do not live in Sioux Falls, you may have transcripts sent to you at your current address. Graduates who live in Sioux Falls are asked to pick up their transcripts.
Will O’Gorman High School fax my transcript?
Yes. Faxed transcripts are not routinely sent from O’Gorman High School. In an emergency, O’Gorman High School will fax a transcript after receiving permission from the student. Faxed transcripts are not official transcripts.
Are my transcripts sealed in a separate envelope?
No. Transcripts issued or sent to students will not be placed in a separate sealed envelope. A transcript issued or sent to students is adequate for your personal use, but usually will not be accepted by a second party as being official. Sometimes an application form you are completing gives specific instructions for transcript transmittal. Please supply us with a copy of these instructions at the time you order the transcript and we will assist you in meeting the requirements.
