Scholarships

Curtis Marvin Hohn Scholarship

  • Open to all students. Preference given to applicants pursuing studies in history, political science or water resources. 
  • $1,000 scholarship

Build Dakota Scholarship

  • For students who intend to enroll full-time in a technical institute program determined as a high need workforce area in South Dakota (see website for details). Recipients agrees to work full-time in the field of study in South Dakota for a minimum of three years. 
  • 50 full-ride scholarships awarded.

Dakota Corps Scholarship

  • For students pursuing a degree at a participating South Dakota college or university that will prepare the student to work in a critical need occupation (see website for details). Recipients also agree to remain and work in South Dakota for as many years as the scholarship was received, plus one year. 
  • Applicants must have a composite ACT score of 27 or greater (or the SAT equivalent) as well as a GPA of 2.8 or greater.

Horatio Alger Scholarship

  • Recipients have a demonstrated financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income) and have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Scholarships range from $10,000 to $25,000.

Hy-Vee Foundation Scholarship

  • ​​​​​​The recipient must be employed by Hy-Vee prior to September 15, 2019 or a part-time Hy-Vee employee who has a minimum of six months employment as of September 15, 2019. The recipient must pursue a baccalaureate degree. 
  • 80-$1,000 scholarships awarded.

2020 Prudential Spirit of Community Award

  • For students who make meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service. 
  • Minimum scholarship amount of $1,000.

In The Driver’s Seat

  • Scholarship opportunity awarded by the National Driving and Traffic School. Multiple rounds of the contest are available. Please see the website for other opportunities and essay examples.

Senior Care: Aging Matters Scholarship

  • Awarded to one student who currently cares for an aging loved one, works within the senior community or intends to pursue a career that will have an impact on the elder population. 
  • Essay required that addresses “why aging matters” to the student.

South Dakota State DAR Scholarship for Military Descendants

  • Awarded to direct descendants of United States Military Veterans-former or current members. This includes legally adopted descendants

Transcript FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is a transcript?
A transcript is a copy of the permanent academic (educational) record. It becomes an official transcript when the seal of the school is affixed and the signature of an authorized person is appended. Transcripts do not include accommodation plans or discipline records. 

How do I order a transcript?
Current students must request a transcript in the Counseling Office. A fee of $1 per transcript is required for current students.Graduates may request a transcript by filling out the Transcript Request Form for Graduates. Financial holds on their academic record may prevent your transcript request from being processed. 
 
How long does it take to process?
Transcripts will be sent out within 2 working days. Please allow sufficient time to meet your deadlines as our office observes school and holiday breaks.  

How much do they cost?
Transcripts for current students cost one dollar each. There is no fee for graduates.  

What courses will be included on my transcript?
All courses completed at O’Gorman High School as well as courses dropped after the withdrawal date (noted as a “W”) appear on your transcript. Courses transferred from other high schools and courses taken during middle school for high school credit are also noted. 

To what address should I send the transcript?
Many schools or businesses require transcripts be sent directly to them to be considered official. Please consult with the party requesting your transcript to determine where it should go or any specific instructions they require. We are able to fax, email or mail through USPS.

Western Undergraduate Exchange

The Western Undergraduate Exchange Program (WUE) allows residents of participating states to enroll in designated public colleges and universities at a reduced tuition rate. Approximately 150% of resident tuition. The participating states are; Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
